Abstract

Current Japan-China economic relations are the complexion of cooperation and opposition. The countries’ economic interests lead states to collaboration, but the political discrepancies may undermine all the positive impact of the trade and investment interaction. Thus, the article deals with the issue whether the economic factors will dominate over the political conflicts. Moreover, the PRC’s activity in Asia-Pacific region is considered in Washington. The USA, in their turn, are looking for ways to activate the relations with Japan in order to restrain “China’s Rise” through the financial mechanisms. Thus, the previous economic misunderstandings were left behind in order to conduct the “new U.S. Asian policy”. Such a new policy should respond to the regional integration processes in Asia, as the leading positions in these processes may be occupied by the PRC. Washington seeks the ways to be connected to Asian integration and shift China out of it. In this context the old U.S.-Japan ties may link Washington with Asian integration groupings. Nevertheless, the new D. Trump’s administration now makes attempts to slow down the American activity at the Asia-Pacific region and in some extent isolate itself from the outer world by the protectionist measures. Such policy may disintegrate Tokyo and Washington and Japan may stand on the way of greater co-operation with China and ASEAN, involving itself in the deeper Asian integration.
