ОСОБЛИВОСТІ КОНТРАСТНОГО ОПИСУ ДОВКІЛЛЯ У ТВОРЧОСТІ ЛУ ЯО

Abstract

Lu Yao (路遥, real name Wang Weiguo 王卫国, 1949–1992) – a prominent representative in the galaxy of Chinese writers, whose work developed in the mainstream of “literature reforms”. His main works are the stories “A touching scene” (“惊心动魄的一幕”, 1980), “Destiny” (“人生”, 1982) and “Hard Times” (“在困难的日子里”,1982), the novel “The Ordinary World” (“平凡的世界”, 1986–1989), etc. are devoted to the description for the life of rural residents in the Shaanxi (陕西) mountainous region during the economic reforms of the 1970s – 1980s. This article examines the description of the environment in the story “Destiny” and in the novel “The Ordinary World” by the modern Chinese writer, the characteristic features of the description of nature are determined in order to develop the plot and storyline, to enrich the inner qualities and circumstances of the characters. An attempt was made to analyze the author’s specifics of describing the environment in the works of Lu Yao. We draw conclusions through the following categories of description of the environment: light and darkness; sound and silence; bright color and dark color as follows: 1. A description of nature as a mirror of the inner world of depicted characters in the works – readers understand the positive or negative emotions of the characters in the literary works; coinciding or opposite shades between literary images and landscapes. 2. Readers follow the step of the development of storyline with the help of descriptions about the nature, even anticipating the line of the story. 3. Viewers will get to know the local characteristics of the northern province of Shaanxi by reading the expressions of the landscapes by the great writer.
