ПОЛІТИЧНИЙ, ЕКОНОМІЧНИЙ І КУЛЬТУРНИЙ ОБМІН МІЖ ПРОВІНЦІЄЮ ХУБЕЙ ТА УКРАЇНОЮ: 1950-1990-ті роки

Abstract

Relations between Hubei province and the Ukraine date back to the 1950’s. Wuhan, the administrative center of Hubei province, implemented some of key projects that the Soviet aid in China and hosted Soviet delegations who visited China. In the 1960’s, with the assistance of the Chinese-Soviet and Soviet-Chinese friendship Society, Hubei province and the Ukrainian SSR officially sent missions, thus achieving the goal of establishing friendly relations between them. With the support of Hubei province, Wuhan University has created China’s first research group specializing in Ukraine. In the 1980’s, Hubei province and Ukraine resumed friendly relations. The Research Center for the Study of Ukraine at Wuhan University also returned to work, which also provided information support for friendly contacts between the Province and the Republic. In the 1990’s, Hubei province and Kiev oblast established friendly provincial-regional relations and thus contributed to the creation of twinning relations between cities such as Wuhan and Kiev, Jingzhou and Bila Tserkva, Yichang and Zaporozhye. Both sides exchanged and co-operated through the official and non-governmental channels in the fields of politics, economy and trade, science and technology, humanities research, education and culture, achieved remarkable results and accumulated extensive experience. The fruitful results of the Research Center for the Study of Ukraine allowed it once to be the leader of Ukrainian studies in China in the 1990’s.
